The Bay of Palma, open 365 days a year

Club Nàutic Arenal is located at one end of the Bay of Palma. Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa is at the other end of the Playa de Palma. Both of them give access to one of the best training spots for sailors in the world. A gift of nature makes it possible for sailors to go out and train for 92% of the days of the year, including the winter months.

In normal weather conditions, the characteristic thermal breeze known as the Embat, a south westerly wind which starts to pick up around midday, has an average strength of 15 to 20 knots and spreads across the bay until sunset.

Therefore, the winds of the bay of Palma are in general soft, but can intensify sporadically in winter due to northern weather changes. When this occurs the natural protection which is given by the mountains of up to 1000m of the Sierra de Tramuntana, allow training in the Bay of Palma to continue as normal.

Under the usual marina breeze conditions in the Bay of Palma, tides are non-existent and surface currents are constant, rarely exceeding  6cm/s.
